About Robinson Kimbolton
Stanley Robinson moved to Kimbolton in 1903, aged 3. He went to work in a cycle shop in Central London at 13. He joined the Royal Flying Corps aged only 16. Following a spell abroad after WW1 salvaging military equipment he returned to Kimbolton.
In 1927 Stanley started a Motor Car and Cycle repair business in a small barn on the corner of the current garage site. In 1936 the garage was built and further extensions were added in the 50’s & 60’s. Robinson’s also operated a coach and taxi before and through WW2.
Stanley’s son, Colin, joined the business full time after his National Service in the early 50’s and worked until retirement in mid 90's. Under Colin the coach side expanded steadily and the garage side took on franchises for Austin Morris followed by BMC, British Leyland, Austin Rover and finally Rover.
Colin’s son, Charles, joined the business in 1977 and runs the company today.
Following land purchase and development of the Coach Park, the coach business grew steadily through the late eighties to the present fleet of 11 coaches that are geared to satisfy the requirements of a wide range of customer needs. The Garage still thrives on the original site performing Servicing, MOT and Repairs to most make of car and van.
We look forward to the future and in providing high standards of quality, service and value to all our customers present & future.
